Westlake is a desirable location that provides proximity to downtown Austin while also being part of the highly regarded EANES ISD school district. Known for its affluent atmosphere, Westlake features large properties and premium real estate prices. Despite its convenient access to the city, some areas of Westlake possess a rural feel. The Westlake community encompasses a vast region west of Lake Austin and extends almost to Hwy 71, with the eastern boundary being Mopac, excluding Spyglass. The area generally referred to as Westlake is comprised of several smaller neighborhoods, Westlake Hills is its own municipality, yet residents living in any area that feeds to Westlake High School will generally refer to themselves as being from Westlake. Lost Creek and The Woods of Westlake are located off 360 and back up to the greenbelt, while Thousand Oaks can be found behind the Barton Creek Mall. Additionally, many neighborhoods line Westlake Drive, which leads from Bee Cave Rd. to 360, and some homes boast stunning Lake Austin waterfront views. Closer to 360, you will find relatively newer homes in neighborhoods such as of Davenport.
